Quirkat, or Alquerque, is an ancient board game that was believed to have been invented in the Middle East around 1400BC, and is among the first board games played in history. The game was found carved in the roof of Egyptian temples. During the peak of Arab civilization, the game was introduced to Europe through Spain and was then carried across to America where it evolved into what we now know as checkers.
