As the region is facing political and social change, what does the economic future look like in times of uncertainty?

The Middle East and North Africa are going through unprecedented political and social change. But also economic change. Until late 2010 the region was actually on track for a recovery from the global financial crisis. Now the outlook is – like everything else – full of uncertainty. We look at a major regional report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to find out what the economic future looks like in times uncertainty.

Kathmandu is South Asia’s poorest economy and it is now witnessing a financial crisis in the making. The government is running out of money to pay its bills, the wealthy are withdrawing money at a record rate, and it is forcing Kathmandu to limit withdrawals. Kathmandu cannot pay for the oil, banks are running out of cash – just what is going on?
