MENA Speed adds to Quirkat’s repertoire of PSN titles – Gamasutra

Dubai, November 2011

Quirkat, the Middle East’s leading video games developer today announced the release of its latest title for the Sony PlayStation Network, MENA Speed. Playable in English as well as Arabic, this minis title is a game of speed and strategy as the player embarks on a drag race championship tour across Middle Eastern cities. With a storyline that pits the player against a host of title challengers with varying degrees of skill, the game also allows for car upgrades and custom features.

MENA Speed is a casual title that combines the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s love of cars and the attention car enthusiasts pay to each and every detail in their car’s appearance and performance, with an arcade type racing experience where reflexes are tested and speed is of the essence. With over 35 unlockable items and increasingly difficult races, the replayability of the game provides for hours of fun on the PSP and PS3 platforms.

“The minis platform, with its casual nature and its selection of bite sized game titles, has enabled us to experiment with console based digital distribution channels and the results have been very encouraging” said Mahmoud Ali Khasawneh, Quirkat’s CEO. “Our commitment to the PlayStation Network is solid, particularly for the Middle East and European markets which represent our core audience.”

MENA Speed is Quirkat’s fifth minis title on the PSN with four Basha card game titles already available. To commemorate the latest launch, the Basha titles are now available at a special promotional price point and consist of the Middle East’s time loved games of Baloot, Trix and Tarneeb.
